What is a nebuliser?
A nebuliser is a (small) device which transforms liquid medication into fine mist. A nebuliser allows you to inhale the medication directly into the airways through a mouthpiece or a mask. During a asthma attack or respiratory infection, the mist may be easier to inhale than the spray from a pocket inhaler.
Why purchase a nebuliser?
When your airways become narrow, like during an asthma attack or respiratory infection, you are not able to take deep breaths anymore. For this reason, a nebuliser is a more effective way to deliver the medication than an inhaler, which requires you to take a deep breath. That is why nebulisers are also ideal for children, who are usually unable to breathe powerfully.
Nebulisers can deliver short-acting or long-acting medication therapy. Also, more than one medication can be given in the same treatment.
Key benefits of nebulisers
User does not need to be able to breathe forcefully, making the use of a nebuliser comfortable for everyone. Medicines have a faster effect because the drug comes directly into the airways. Easily and quickly administer a large dose of medication.
